History - Photo Album 1 Early History Dr. Al Vander Meer and his family moved to Bettendorf, Iowa in 1977 to begin a church in the Quad-Cities. An undertaking began to establish Christ’s Family Reformed Church.

In October 1977, the first publicly announced service was held
at Holiday Inn, Bettendorf.

For five years, services were held in this location. Attendance
continued to grow, and on April 10, 1978 the church was
organized with 68 charter members.

In June 1979, the Davenport property on the corner of Utica Ridge
and Crow Creek Road was purchased, and in September, a building
committee was formed. During this time the Holiday Inn was being
remodeled and meeting space was lost and temporary quarters were
found again at Georgian Square Office Building in February 1983.
Attendance continued to grow. ![]()
On November 11, 1984, ground was broken and construction began. A beautiful building became a reality through the dedication of many people working together, with God’s guidance.

In September 1991 Dr. Vander Meer left and on April 10, 1993 Pastor Gene Poll was installed as the new pastor to continue the growth of the church. Christ’s Family Church continued its outreach to the community with the opening of a day care center in August 1994.
