Early History
Dr. Al Vander Meer and his family moved to Bettendorf, Iowa in 1977 to begin a church in the Quad-Cities. An undertaking began to establish Christ’s Family Reformed Church.

Several families met on Sunday evenings
for home worship and fellowship.

For five years, services were held in this location. Attendance continued to grow, and on April 10, 1978 the church was organized with 68 charter members.

In June 1979, the Davenport property on the corner of Utica Ridge and Crow Creek Road was purchased, and in September, a building committee was formed. During this time the Holiday Inn was being remodeled and meeting space was lost and temporary quarters were found again at Georgian Square Office Building in February 1983. Attendance continued to grow.

On November 11, 1984, ground was broken and construction began. A beautiful building became a reality through the dedication of many people working together, with God’s guidance.

In September 1991 Dr. Vander Meer left and on April 10, 1993 Pastor Gene Poll was installed as the new pastor to continue the growth of the church.

Christ’s Family Church continued its outreach to the community with the opening of a day care center in August 1994.
